Privacy Policy

The short version: your photos never leave your phone. Ritual's servers only ever see numbers — never images.

All photo scanning, review, and deletion happens on your device using Apple's photo library framework. No photo, video, thumbnail, or filename is ever uploaded, anywhere.

What we collect

To sync your progress across reinstalls and devices, Ritual stores metadata only:

• Ritual results as numbers — items cleared, bytes reclaimed, timestamps, and clutter type (duplicate / screenshot / large video)
• Your streak and lifetime totals
• Your settings — reminder times, ritual length, and theme choice
• An account identifier (anonymous by default — see below)

What we never collect

• Photos, videos, thumbnails, or any image data
• Filenames, captions, albums, or photo locations
• Your contacts, browsing history, or location
• Advertising identifiers — Ritual has no ads and no third-party trackers or analytics

Your account

Ritual creates an anonymous account automatically — no email, name, or sign-up required. You can optionally use Sign in with Apple to make your account permanent so your streak and stats survive a reinstall or new device. Apple's private relay means we may not even see your real email address.

Service providers

• Supabase hosts our database and authentication. It stores only the metadata described above, protected so each user can access only their own rows.
• hCaptcha protects sign-in from abuse; it processes a one-time challenge during account creation.
• Apple provides Sign in with Apple if you choose to use it.

We never sell data, and we don't share it with anyone else.

Notifications

Ritual reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. They don't pass through our servers, and you can turn them off anytime in Settings or iOS notification preferences.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account and all synced metadata from Settings → Account in the app, or by emailing us. Deleting the app removes all local data from your device.

Children

Ritual is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
